WE DO NOT HAVE ANY AGENT FOR MISCELLANEOUS SERVICES. APPLICANTS SHOULD SUBMIT THEIR MISCELLANEOUS APPLICATION IN PERSON AT THE COUNTER IN EMBASSY OF INDIA, CONSULAR WING, 2536 MASSACHUSETTS AVE NW, WASHINGTON, DC 20008 BETWEEN 10AM AND 12.30PM ON ALL WORKING DAYS (EXCEPT EMBASSY HOLIDAYS).

There is no parking space available and the nearest metro station is Dupont Circle which is approximately 1 mile away

Please carry originals of all the supporting documents which you have enclosed with the application. The originals have to be shown to the consular officer.

Please apply only to Jurisdiction of Embassy of India, Washington D.C. (Bermuda, Delaware, District of Columbia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia).

Each applicant for Miscellaneous Services has to give a separate money order/cashier’s check  of US $2 (two) drawn in favor of Embassy of India- Washington DC for Indian Community Welfare Fee (ICWF) w.e.f. September 1, 2017. Cash is accepted at the counter only if applying in person.

• There is no need to take an appointment. Applicants could visit The Embassy on any working day between 10.00 AM - 12.30 PM. The service will be on first come first serve basis.      

• Apostille Convention: the Hague Convention, to which India and USA are signatories, abolishes the requirement of legalization for Foreign Public Documents. With the certification by the Hague Convention 'Apostille', the document is entitled to recognition in India and vice versa and no certification by the Embassy/Embassys of India is required. The convention applies to public documents which have been executed in the territory of one Contracting State and which have to be produced in the territory of another Contracting State.    

• The Embassy reserves the right to reject attestation of documents the contents of which are objectionable or contrary to the Rules.

• Attestation of Will is done in person only

Applying In Person only

The applicant drawing up the Will is required to come to the Embassy personally. The applicant would be interviewed by the Vice Consul to ascertain if he/she has been influenced in any way or is in his/her senses when drawing the Will.  If the applicant cannot come to the Embassy, for whatever reason, the Will is not attested.  There is no relaxation to this rule.

Documents required when applying in person:  Please have the following documents ready before you come to the counter

1 . Miscellaneous Services Form - Download the Miscellaneous Application form and fill it up carefully. Each applicant is required to fill up separate Miscellaneous Application form and affix his/her photograph on the same.

2. ORIGINAL Passport and Photocopy of the first five pages and last two pages of the current passport. 

3. ORIGINAL and Photocopy of any one of the following as proof of your US Visa Status

(Please carry originals at the counter):

o Page containing visa on passport (H1B, H4 etc) and the copy of I-94

o Clear Photocopy of Green Card

o Employment Authorization Document (Work Permit)

o I-797, I-140 or I-20 (If approval copy of these notices are pending, also attach a handwritten note detailing the efforts being made to regularize status.)

4. ORIGINAL and Photocopy of any one of the following as proof of your current US residence address.

o U.S Driving license.

o Gas, Electricity, Water or landline telephone bill displaying applicant’s address

o House Lease Agreement

o State Identification Card

o Note: Bank/credit card/mobile phone statements are not accepted as residence proof. 

5. Will document (which is to be attested) should be presented in original. Will needs to be signed and witnessed by two individuals (with their names and addresses clearly mentioned). If the witnesses are not coming in Person it should be DULY NOTARISED

Fees: A non-refundable fee of $ 20 (twenty) per attestation. Each applicant for Miscellaneous Services has to give a separate money order/cashier’s check/cash  of US $2 (two) drawn in favor of Embassy of India- Washington DC for Indian Community Welfare Fee (ICWF) w.e.f. September 1, 2017.If you want to receive the attested documents back through mail, either  send a trackable pre-paid return mailing envelope (UPS or FEDEX etc.)  or enclose a money order/cashier’s check for $ 20 (twenty) payable to Embassy of India - Washington DC.
Fees should be paid through Money order or Cashiers’ cheque drawn in favor of the ‘Embassy of India, Washington DC’.  Personal cheques, credit cards or other banking instruments are not accepted.

Processing Time :

• Applying in person only
o Same day/next day (delivery of attested documents between 10 AM AND 12.30 PM)
