WE DO NOT HAVE ANY AGENT FOR MISCELLANEOUS SERVICES. APPLICANTS CAN SUBMIT THEIR MISCELLANEOUS APPLICATION IN PERSON AT THE COUNTER IN EMBASSY OF INDIA, CONSULAR WING, 2536 MASSACHUSETTS AVE NW, WASHINGTON, DC 20008 BETWEEN 10AM AND 12.30PM ON ALL WORKING DAYS (EXCEPT EMBASSY HOLIDAYS) OR SEND PAPERS BY POSTAL MAIL TO EMBASSY OF INDIA, CONSULAR WING, 2536 MASSACHUSETTS AVE NW, WASHINGTON, DC 20008.

There is no parking space available at the consular dept. premise which is located at 2536 Massachusetts Ave, NW, Washington, DC 20008) and the nearest metro station is Dupont Circle which is approximately 1 mile away.

Please apply only to Jurisdiction of Embassy of India, Washington D.C. (Bermuda, Delaware, District of Columbia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina,Virginia and West Virginia).

Each applicant for Miscellaneous Services has to give a separate money order/cashier’s check of US $2 (two) drawn in favour of Embassy of India- Washington DC for Indian Community Welfare Fee (ICWF) w.e.f. September 01, 2017. Cash is accepted at the counter only if applying in person.


• There is no need to take an appointment. Applicants could visit The Embassy on any working day between 10.00 AM - 12.30 PM. The service will be on first come first serve basis.
• The Embassy reserves the right to reject documents the contents of which are objectionable or contrary to the Rules.
• The Embassy does not attest any document issued by authorities in India. If any document issued by authorities in India (such as birth and death certificates, affidavits, diplomas, marriage certificate and educational certificates issued by authorities in India ) are required to be presented to authorities in USA, these should be apostilled in India. Applying In Person:

It is mandatory to apply for Indian passport of the Child alongwith registration of birth. The registration of birth must be done at the Indian Embassy within one year of Child's birth.

 

Documents required when applying in person:  Please have the following documents ready before you come to the counter

 1 . Miscellaneous Services Form - Download the Miscellaneous Application form and fill it up carefully. Each applicant is required to fill up separate Miscellaneous Application form and affix his/her photograph on the same.

2. ORIGINAL Passport and Photocopy of the first five pages and last two pages of the current passport.

3. ORIGINAL and Photocopy of any one of the following as proof of your US Visa Status

(Please carry originals at the counter):

o Page containing visa on passport (H1B, H4 etc) and the copy of I-94

o Clear Photocopy of Green Card

o Employment Authorization Document (Work Permit)

o I-797, I-140 or I-20 (If approval copy of these notices are pending, also attach a handwritten note detailing the efforts being made to regularize status.)

4. ORIGINAL and Photocopy of any one of the following as proof of your current US residence address.

o U.S Driving license.

o Gas, Electricity, Water or landline telephone bill displaying applicant’s address

o House Lease Agreement

o State Identification Card

o Note: Bank/credit card/mobile phone statements are not accepted as residence proof.

Download the Birth Registration Form and complete it

Original Birth Certificate of the child issued by the local authorities along with a photocopy

Notarized Affidavit of both parents that they have not taken any other nationality for the child

Notarized Affidavit (NOC) of both parents that they have no objection to the registration and obtaining passport for the child

Fees: A non-refundable fee of $25 (twenty five) per registration. Each applicant for Miscellaneous Services has to give a separate money order/cashier’s check  of US $2 (two) drawn in favor of Embassy of India- Washington DC for Indian Community Welfare Fee (ICWF) w.e.f. September 1, 2017. If you want to receive the attested documents back through mail, either send a trackable pre-paid return mailing envelope (UPS or FEDEX etc.) or enclose a money order/cashier's check for $ 20 (twenty) payable to Embassy of India - Washington DC.
Fees should be paid through Money order or Cashiers' cheque drawn in favor of the 'Embassy of India, Washington DC'. Personal cheques, credit cards or other banking instruments are not accepted. Cash is accepted at the counter only if applying in person.

Applying by mail

Supporting Documents: Photocopy of all supporting documents should be notarized and attached to the application. Do not send any original documents except the PASSPORT and the document to be attested.

How to Apply:

In case the Embassy receives applications with incomplete documentation, the same would be sent back unprocessed in the return envelope sent by the applicant.

Processing Time :

  • Applying in person: Same day/next day (delivery of attested documents between 10 AM AND 12.30 PM)
  • Applying in mail: 10 business days excluding the time taken in mail.
