PRESS RELEASE - A commemorative ceremony for the Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi


Washington, DC

A commemorative ceremony for the Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi (2 October 1869 - 30 January 1948) was organized by the Embassy of India, Washington DC on 2  October 2013. Ambassador Nirupama Rao and the Indian Embassy community and the Indian community of Washington paid floral tributes to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in front of the Embassy. Ambassador addressed the gathering and reiterated the continuing importance of Gandhi's message of non-violence. Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram, a favorite song of Mahatma Gandhi, was sung during the occasion.
