INDIA AND MEXICO TO COOPERATE IN
PROMOTING TRADITIONAL SYSTEMS OF MEDICINE

The delegation led by Health Minister of Mexico, Dr. Juan Ramon de la Fuente today called on the Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Shri Dalit Ezhilmalai in New Delhi. The Secretary, Indian Systems of Medicine, Dr. Shanta Sastry, Director General Health Services, Dr. S.P. Agarwal and senior officers of the Union Health & Family Welfare Ministry were present in the meeting. In his opening remarks, Shri Dalit Ezhilmalai offered India’s cooperation in developing traditional systems of medicine and exchange of information and research and other activities. The visiting Minister highlighted the importance of sharing information on both modern and traditional systems of medicine by India and Mexico. He said, it will be mutually beneficial to extend and exchange the experiences. Besides

this, cooperation on economic issues, the need for tie ups in social sector was stressed by both the sides. The delegation also discussed the ways and means to bring together Physicians, Nurses and health workers of both the countries. The possibilities of signing a memorandum of understanding between the two countries on health issues was also discussed. India has offered to exchange information on the ongoing research activities in Indian Systems of Medicine concerning HIV & AIDS.
