Press Release on the Visit of External Affairs Minister to New York for the 64th General Assembly

On 22nd September 2009, External Affairs Minister led the Indian delegation at the “Summit on Climate Change” organized by UN Secretary General, H.E. Mr. Ban Ki-Moon. A copy of the full text of EAM’s intervention in the round table discussions is attached.

EAM attended a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the G5 nations. The meeting was coordinated by Mexico with the participation of EAM and his counterparts from Brazil, China, Mexico and South Africa. Following the conclusion of the meeting, a press release was issued, a copy of which is attached.

EAM also had a bilateral meeting with Sri Lankan Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr. Rohitha Bogollagama. The two Ministers exchanged views on the situation in northern Sri Lanka, particularly the efforts of the Sri Lankan Government in rehabilitating and resettling IDPs from camps to their original homes, as well as measures to enhance bilateral cooperation in all fields.
