Statement by External Affairs Minister on the election of Mr. Kamalesh Sharma as the next Secretary General of Commonwealth

I extend my warmest congratulations to Mr. Kamalesh Sharma on his election as the next Secretary General of the Commonwealth. I also take this opportunity of conveying my thanks to all the countries that supported his candidature. I would like to point out that Mr. Sharma may have been the candidate of India, but he will be the Secretary General of the entire Commonwealth community.
