Press release on the death of two Indian students at the Louisiana State University

Washington, DC

We have learnt with deep sorrow of reports about the alleged murder of two Indian students, Chandrasekhar Reddy Komma and Kiran Kumar Allam, Ph.D students of the Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge. As soon as we were made aware of this heinous crime on the morning of December 14, the Consulate General of India, Houston established contact with the Louisiana State University to ascertain more details. Consul K.P. Pillai from the Consulate General and First Secretary Alok Pandey from the Embassy of India, Washington are being dispatched to Baton Rouge, Louisiana today to establish contact with the University authorities, Police Department and the Indian-American community to render all possible assistance. Appropriate meetings have been fixed for the morning of Saturday, December 15.

The Ambassador of India, Mr. Ronen Sen, conveys his deepest condolences to the family members of the victims of this tragedy and hopes that the culprits will be caught and due justice meted out to them.
