Sending relief material through Air-India

Air India will lift relief material from various parts of the world on a priority basis at free of charge for the Gujarat quake victims.  The relief material would be accorded priority keeping in view the urgency of its requirement for the victims.

What to donate:

Tents, temporary shelters, sleeping bags, water drilling equipments and Purifiers and Orthopedic medical equipments. 

The packages may be addressed to chief secretary, Government of Gujarat. The cartons may also have the packing list pasted on the outside, and the weight and volume clearly marked.  

The Government of Gujarat is grateful for the overwhelming response of the International community but has advised that medical personnel and hospital units, search and rescue teams, trained dogs and food are no longer required.

Priority Requirements of Government of Gujarat:

Tents: immediate shelters to be created for over 250000 rendered homeless.  Readymade tents suited for 4-5 persons. (preferably with sanitary facilities) also larger tents for 100-200 persons with sanitary facilities.

Building material for temporary shelters: Roofing material and construction material of various kinds. Could be sent by air or ship to Mundra or Kandla Ports.

Medical support for prevention of epidemic

In the United States, the Air-India flies from Chicago and New York.  The Consulate General in Chicago & New York will coordinate between Air-India and the donors. Authorization from the Consulate would be necessary for free transportation by Air India to Ahmedabad.
