Pakistan has agreed to export 300 MW of power to India and the two countries would finalise tariff and other commercial terms in a meeting next month in Islamabad. During the second round of discussions, the Pakistani delegation, led by power secretary Syed Shahid Hussain, "confirmed availability of 300 MW of capacity for export to India for the next 10 years.... in the long run, the power availability may be increased to about 1000 MW," a statement of the Indian government said. On the conclusion of the three day long talks, the special secretary in the power ministry, Pradip Baijal, who headed the Indian delegation, said it was decided that the tariff and other commercial terms for purchase of power would be finalised in the next round of discussions to be held in March in Pakistan. "We have handed over a detailed draft regarding the commercial terms suitable to India to the Pakistan delegation and we hope that they would soon examine and give their views," he said. Pakistan also said that power to India could be increased to 600 MW as per the availability during certain periods of time, an official release said adding that separate technical studies would be conducted for increasing the power to 1000 MW.
