Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee paid an official visit to the United States and was in Washington D.C. from September 13 - 17, 2000. During the visit, Prime Minister Vajpayee addressed the joint session of the U.S. Congress and held bilateral talks with U.S. President Clinton. Prime Minister also dedicated the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial in Washington D.C.
