INTERNATIONAL LEATHER FAIR (IILF), 2006
INTRODUCTION :
The
India International Leather Fair is the largest fair of the leather and leather
products industry held in India and is one of the major leather fairs held in
Asia. This fair is held every year in Chennai,
Tamilnadu.
The
India International Leather Fair serves as a platform for projection of
India’s export capabilities in leather sector and provides a forum for
exchange of ideas and sharing experiences among various sectors of leather
industry and also introduces foreign manufacturers of sophisticated leather
machinery and equipment to Indian leather industry.
VENUE :
Started
in 1986 in an area of 1800 sq.mtrs in Valluvar Kottam in Chennai with the
participation of 200 exhibitors including 20 overseas exhibitors, this fair has
shown growth prospects every year. The fair venue was shifted to the more
spacious Rajaji Hall in Chennai in 1987 in an area of about 2800 sq.mtrs and was
held in the same venue every year till 1997.
In
1998, the venue was shifted to the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium,
Periamet, Chennai in an area of about 6500 sq.mtsr , which has
air-conditioned facility also. The 2000 edition of the fair witnessed the
participation of 370 exhibitors including 140 exhibitors from overseas
countries.
IILF'2001
was held from January 31- February 4,2001 in the newly constructed Chennai Trade
Centre, an exclusive exhibition centre promoted jointly by Government of India
and Government of Tamil Nadu for
conducting trade fairs.
Chennai
Trade Centre has been set up in an area of over 25 acres wherein 4 modules of
5000 sq.mtrs. each exhibition halls are being set up with inter-connection
facility, in a phased manner. The
first phase consists of 2 halls, namely Hall 1 (4400 sq. mtrs.) and Hall 2A
(1840 sq.mtrs) with six metres height to facilitate movement of all merchandise
including machinery has already been completed. Besides this, a Convention
Centre has also been constructed last year for holding seminars and fashion
shows. Chennai Trade Centre is
architecturally and technically designed to be a 'state of the art' exhibition
hall being the first of its kind in the State of Tamilnadu.
The
India International Leather Fair serves as a platform for exporters and buyers
of not only leather and leather products but also other allied industries like
leather machinery, leather chemicals, components and accessories to display
their wide range of products to the international buyers and enter into business
tie-ups. The fair is divided into the following five major divisions :
1)
Machinery.
2)
Shoes and Components.
3)
Leather Garments.
4)
Leather Goods and Accessories.
5)
Finished Leather and Chemicals.
The
major highlights of 2006 Fair will be a Trend Pavilion displaying the latest
fashions and trends in leather and leather products, Technology Shows
highlighting the updated technology for leather industry, Seminars on different
topics and Leather Fashion Show 2006 presenting latest designs and fashion
colours.
IILF 2005 witnessed the participation of 270 exhibitors including 50 overseas
exhibitors. The fair was attended by 10,000 business visitors including 1600
visitors from 40 overseas countries. Business
to the tune of US $ 60 million was transacted during the fair.
INVITATION
TO IILF 2006
The
Council is pleased to invite specifically US companies and buyers to visit IILF.
The Council is also offering the US visitors for this fair following facilities:
Stay in a five star category hotel for 4 days (Jan.31 – Feb.3)
Hospitality during stay in Chennai (Excluding Mini-Bar Facilities)
Local transportation from Hotel to the Exhibition Venue daily. Visits to leather product factories in and around Chennai can be organized on request.
Invitations for participation in Leather Fashion Show 2006 and social evenings and get-togethers arranged by the Trade Associations during the fair.
However, the visitors/respective buyers shall bear the expenditure relating to their Air travel (round trip to Chennai & back) and all other charges such as Long Distance Calls, use of Business Center/Health Club in the Hotel.
